A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Popelin at Charlieue (in Loire). This clock features an automated pendulum with a boy being shooed away by a farm woman as he attempts to steal apples from her tree. As the pendulum swings back and forth, he climbs up and down a ladder. The pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration in pale pastel colors. There is damage to the enamel face of the clock on numerals five and eight. The glass panes have been replaced. Please refer to photos for more details. A video is available upon request. Circa 1880-1900. 92.5"H x 21.25"W x 8"D
