A good French country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face, signed by the clockmaker, Louis Chauchet and the name of his town, Moutiers-les-Maufaits (in the Pays de la Loire region of Western France). Pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration: vases and urns overflowing with flowers including pink roses and yellow sunflowers. Nicely detailed painted case is also signed by the maker. Original glass panes. Small restoration on the brass embossment of the face. Restoration on bottom feet. Circa 1870-1890. 96.25"H x 20"W x 8"D
