With North Korea and Kim Jong-un continuing madness it may be time to revisit those wonderful days of the 1950’s when having a bomb shelter was like having a a cement pond. This grouping comes from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and belonged to a Civil Engineer who would assist fellow Milwaukeean’s on building their A-Bomb Labyrinth. The coolest part of this archive is the Air Marshal Arm band; I don’t believe I have ever seen another one. There is a fascinating 47 page manual that instructs how to “Mass feed “in lieu of a Mushroom cloud appearing while watching a Braves Reds baseball game at County Stadium. Basically if Warren Spahn starts to glow and Ted Kluszewski’s bulging biceps descenagrate’s… it’s time to toss the flaming scorecard, break out this manual and in turn fasten that armband on. That’s if you still have an arm? What I personally found helpful was the multiple ways a fire or oven can be built from 1950’s washtubs and chrome fenders. The manual also details menu’s for mass feedings and extremely creative ways to do this even if the available food is radioactive. My neighbor has a bomb shelter built in 1957. He uses it to store Jack Daniels. I see his duel purpose... you may as well be lit if you’re going to be lit".
