A rare albumen photograph of the painting Le retour du fils prodigue signed by Harry Mosler to a couple he calls friend by the name of Mr. & Mrs. Plimpton. "Le retour du fils prodigue", 1879, oil on canvas, Musée départemental bretonm, Quimper, France. His "Le Retour," from the Paris Salon of 1879, was the first American painting ever bought for the Luxembourg Palace. He received a silver medal at the Salons in Paris 1889, and gold medals at Paris, 1888, and Vienna, 1893.
The International success of this painting likely had Mosler make photographic prints, in which he autographed them to a select number of friends and colleagues.
