For your consideration I have a highly unusual and historically significant set of original 4 x 5 inch glass negatives of important side arms owned by Charles Nordin of Omaha, Nebraska in the year 1934. This collection of ‘famous pistols’ belonged to Buffalo Bill, Doc Carver and Calamity Jane and N. K. Boswell.
Charles Nordin of Omaha, NE, was born in Sweden in 1878, emigrating to America with his parents at the age of just six. The family settled in Phelps Co., NE. Nordin married twice, with two children born in each marriage. He was a builder and contractor, but his hobby was collecting Indian and frontier material. An article in Nebraska History magazine by Nordin just after Carver's death in 1927 featured a photograph of eight older men taken at Norfolk, NE, June 16, 1927. This was the meeting attended by Carver just months before his death. Nordin and Carver are standing next to each other in the back row.
This lot of negatives comes with printed photos of the negatives. I wonder what happened to these Famous Pistols? This is something History Detectives could use as direct hard core evidence in their pursuit.
