Rare edition of the Southern Confederacy Newspaper Tuesday Morning January 10 1860 Printed in Atlanta, Georgia; Volume 2 Number 7 Five-Cents per issue.
On the cusp of the Civil War this newspaper covers the political fury that is reaching a boiling point between the North and South. The front page list the roster of the 36th Congress which includes legendary names as Hannibal Hamlin, Jefferson Davis, Stephen Douglas, Charles Sumner, Andrew Johnson a host of other historical names that would soon find themselves in the midst of a Civil War. This newspaper is housed in a large museum styled frame that would have seen in old libraries. There are very few known examples in private hands. There are many listings for local Atlanta businesses which went up in flames by way of General Sherman whose march through Georgia from November 15 to December 21, 1864 ended this newspapers publication for good. I have not removed the newspaper from the frame to examine the other pages. Paper measures 16 x 21 ½ housed in a 23 x 26 inch frame.
