American Late 18th century watercolor on paper of a stylish affluent lady wearing a Chinese rice hat and wearing a high-necked elaborate lace collar that was vogue in the 17th century. This unidentified lady seems to be caught between centuries in her attire with a hodgepodge of fashion. She is quite charming if not whimsical in her appearance. You almost believe there is a price tag dangling from her hat in the spirit of Minnie Pearl. The painting is housed in a beautiful period frame with hanger that measures 7 ½ x 8 ½ inches. The actual portrait viewing area is 3 x 4 inches. This portrait has been in my personal collection for many years. The new owner will find it equally irresistible.
