Ultra Rare and beautiful Sterling Silver Sugar Tong made by famed silversmith George Bindon of London in the year 1775. This gorgeous piece has pierced leaf design with Acorn grips. The piece was purchased through Marshall-Fields on July 23 1978 for $675.00 dollars. The tongs are in their original box and with accompanying paperwork.
These tongs were made at the height of the American Revolutionary War and imported to the colonies.
These Sugar Tongs have not seen the light of day in nearly 40 years from the estate they were privately purchased from. 41.1 grams 5.5 inches in length with full hallmarks in excellent uncleaned condition.
