This is one of many obsolete security and law enforcement related badges I am currently listing this week in my shop. This scarce badge is from the old O’Neil Sheffield Center which opened with great fanfare on Saturday, May 1, 1954. It was the first modern shopping center in Lorain County, Ohio.
According to an article in the Lorain Journal at the time, it was "heralded as one of the largest retail centers ever built in Ohio." The shopping center had 49 single-story units, covered by a canopy and surrounding a grassy courtyard. The badge measures 2 ½ inches in height and 3’ inches across from eagle wing span.
A quality badge for any collection that rarely comes on the market.
Please take a moment to examine my other badges from the estate of the same officer.
