Fine original early war Civil War letter and original stamped cover from a soldier being trained at Camp Taylor in Cleveland, Ohio. Cover is cancelled Cleveland May 1st 1861. Soldier's name is William Watson and he had quite a military career. In fact you can do research on William by going to the Virginia military institute sight where they hold William G.Watson's memories titled; A Union soldier in the Shenandoah Valley, 1864.

This letter which is on four separate pages let's his family know that he is in the seventh regiment and that he will be going to Camp Dennison near Cincinnati, Ohio. He ends his letter to respond in care of Chaplain Sterling of the seventh regiment.
