Civil War patriotic cover with black illustration captioned: "UNCLE SAM & JEFF ", with great detail depicting Uncle Sam grabbing the shoulder of Jefferson Davis, who is loaded down with sacks & packages, labeled: "NEW ORLEANS", "MOBILE", "CHARLESTON", "U.S. TREASURY", & "NORLFOLK", with Fort Sumter & Fort Pickens in the background. Jeff Davis says: "I only want to be let alone", and Uncle Sam replies: "Jes so Jeff! And more to". A scarce design.
This is one of several Patriotic covers I am presently listing of that came out of a large period folio scrapbook of Political & Patriotic covers.
Each cover was carefully pasted in this large folio by the owner who collected these as a small child through the Civil War all the way through his life span which ended during World War 2.
The cover will be sent to you with the thin scrapbook backing that the cover was attached to. I have not made any attempt to remove the thin paper from the back of each envelope to insure the covers originality.
