Civil War Andersonville Prison Patriotic Cover George W. Stephens Ohio

(Exceedingly rare) Civil War Patriotic Cover addressed to George W.Stephen of Xenia,Ohio.

George W. Stephens enlisted as a 24 year old Private in Company H, 101st Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 11, 1862, mustering into service August 30, 1862. Captured September 19, 1863 at the Battle of Chickamauga, he died of disease August 12, 1864 while a prisoner of war at Andersonville, Georgia.

He is buried in the national cemetery there.

One of kind and a cover that needs no further promotion of value.

Each cover as this rare example, was carefully pasted in this large folio by the owner who collected these as a small child through the Civil War all the way through his life span which ended during World War 2.

The cover will be sent to you with the thin scrapbook backing that the cover was attached to. I have not made any attempt to remove the thin paper from the back of each envelope to insure the covers originality
