A scarce very early hand tinted salt print c.1859 of a deceased young girl lying on a sofa. The plaid checkered floor adds a strange dimension to the over-all portrait. I would assume this image was housed in a frame with the slag oak backing giving the oak knot staining on the verso. There is a 1" ¾ inch tear as shown on the lower right side which is stable and not flapping or brittle.
This would be in excellent addition to any post-mortem collection.
Thank you for your interest and consideration.
