This vase style is called an arcature because of the open portion in the center. Most of the vases were square or rectangle in the center so this is unusual to have a circle. The blue bird is beautiful and very realistic. The bird appears to have found a hole to build its nest in. The head, beak and a portion of the body is in the open circle. The background is a creamy white. The birds color is a nice blue jean blue. The base of the vase has a blue bead braid look around the edge. The back of the vase is without ornamentation and has an indented hole. The glaze has a shine and is on the whole vase including the bottom. The vase stands 7 inches tall and the opening is 1 ½ inches wide. There are no identification markings on this piece. This piece does have some fine crazing on it. This piece is just a wonderful piece of beautiful pottery.
