Here is a chalkware sailing ship that I believe is supposed to be one of Columbus’ ships. It has three crosses on the sails. Years ago if you played a game at the fair and won your prize was a chalkware figure. They came in many sizes and designs. I believe this is an early one from the 30's or 40's. Often the condition of the piece was altered by carrying it around as they could be quite fragile. The ship colors are strong. The ship’s hull is red and the water is blue with the sails having a bit of yellow, green and red shadowing on of white sails. It measures 4 inches across and 4 inches tall. For its age I see no chips or cracks. The back is cream colored. Its shipping weight is 1 pound. This piece of carnival chalkware is in excellent condition and would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
