This pottery covered hen and chick cookie jar is marked FAPCO USA on the bottom. This mama hen is sitting on her brown nest. The cover has a ridge on its bottom so it can be placed in the base of the jar. The bottom of this piece with its mark is glazed and has a shinny look. The inside of the cookie jar is cream in color and is glazed. The jar has a lot of detail to make it look realistic including the tiny head of a baby chick peeking out of her back feathers. The jar base is 5 ½ inches across the long portion and 3 1/2 inches wide. The base height is 4 ½ inches tall and with the cover is 8inches tall. The initials FAPCO stands for Fredrickburgh Art Pottery. It was in operation in Ohio from 1910 to1965 until it burned down in 1965. It had many owners over those years. Thee white spot on the last tail picture is under the glaze and part of the coloring of the piece. There is one flaw on the end of the tail that you can feel. The cookie jar’s wight for shipping is 4 pounds . It is a wonderful piece that should be loved by someone.
