Hallmarked English Sterling silver clothes brush that was undoubtedly part of a larger grander vanity set befitting a wealthy owner. Yellow enamel in the guilloche or engine turn pattern in fine condition. Most such sets would contained 2 brushes-one with soft bristles and one with firmer bristles depending on the fabric to be brushed: this brush has the firmer ones. The bristles are clean and full in the wooden base. The hallmark is for Birmingham 1931 and the makers mark is very faint. It seems to be B&Co which would indicate the Birmingham silversmith W.I.Broadway who was in business at this time. Measures 5 1/2 " long and 1 3/8" across. Stands 1 3/8" tall. A beautiful sterling and enamel piece.
