Hallmarked sterling silver 1899 magnifying glass from makers Hilliard & Thomason of Birmingham. This historic prestigious firm operated from 1840 to 1906 and exhibited at Victorian venues such as the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London and the International Exhibition of 1862. They were well known makers of small items including this sterling piece. The glass and band have been replaced with a marked Hilkinson piece but the handle is original and in excellent condition. The pattern is done in swirls which make it easy to hold. It is hallmarked on both sides. Measures 6"long and 2 1/2" in the diameter of the magnifying glass.
