Designed with a Majolica-flare, this sweet floral plate was made in Italy for the upscale Bonwit Teller department store of early on. Founded in 1895 by Paul Bonwit; the first store was located at Sixth Avenue and 18th Street, New York City. The 9 inch plate is circa 1940s-1950s and is in excellent condition. It is quite pretty with a raised basketweave-like design around the outer edge. The handpainted floral is in lavender, rosy pinks, yellow and green. This plate was made for food but also make very lovely decorative wall and cabinet displays. Stamped on the back is PF Made in Italy for Bonwit Teller.
