Found this great 19th century Pantry Box in in upstate NY near Cortland, NY. The box is Bentwood constructed with a bail handle. It measures 6 ½ inches high and is 11 ½ inches in diameter. It is in super good, age-related condition with no cracks, splintering or lifting at the seam. All nails are intact and securely attached, as is the handle, and the lid fits snugly on a smooth rim edge. The color is a rich reddish brown with great character. Hand inscribed in the top of the lid is: Cheese Box. It is clean with no offensive odors, (well, maybe there’s a mild hint of pantry), but it’s ready to use. Yes, I would use it. It’s quite nice. Why just sit it on a shelf looking pretty, when it’s in good usable condition. I like it. Sales tax for all states that require it must be added and is calculated on purchase price including shipping and handling.
