This 19th century carved, hand-held Butter Mold/Press was found in Virginia but I believe it to be Pennsylvania made. I believe the wood is walnut and is comprised of three pieces; the mold, the press stamp, and the handle which is screwed into the stamp. The Press has a very clean flower motif carved on the bottom. The mold is 4-5/8 inches in diameter by 3-3/4 inches high and the press diameter is 3-5/8 inches. Overall height to the top of press handle is 5-1/4 inches. It has fine patina and is a wonderful example of woodenware used in the 19th century. The stamp is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The mold has a crack on top that is on both sides of the handle but is in otherwise excellent condition. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State.
