This 19th century carved, hand-held Butter Mold/Press was found in Virginia but I believe it to be Pennsylvania made. I believe the wood is maple and is comprised of three pieces; the mold, the press stamp, and the handle which is screwed into the stamp. The Press has a pineapple and wreath motif carved on the bottom. The mold is 4-3/4 inches in diameter by 3-3/4 inches high and the press diameter is 3-1/2 inches. Overall height to the top of press handle is 5-1/4 inches. The stamp has a hairline in the center of the pineapple and there are few cracks on the side of the mold. It has a great look but the craftsmanship is not the same as others we have. What it does have going for is the stamp design which is in pretty good condition and is unique.
