Early 1 Quart Tin Melon Shaped Mold markedEarly 1 Quart Tin Melon Shaped Mold markedEarly 1 Quart Tin Melon Shaped Mold marked

Great example of early molds used for steaming puddings, cakes and other delights. This Liquid 1 Quart Melon Shaped Tin Mold is marked on the bottom, LIQUID 1 QT. N.Y.C. APPRD. D 2 and is in good age-related condition with few areas of mild rust; this is from years of use. All in all, it is actually in quite good condition considering its age, I believe to be late 1800s – early 1900s. Mold measures 6 6/8 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches high with a handle on the top lid and one on the bottom pan for easy separation when baked item is ready to unmold. Both handles are secure. Unlike most of these type molds, the top and bottom pieces of this mold slip apart quite easily while fitting neatly together. Outer color and finish is nicely aged while interior remains for the most part, shiny. It’s quite attractive. I like it.
