Great example of early molds used for steaming puddings, cakes and other delights. This Liquid 1 Quart Melon Shaped Tin Mold is marked on the bottom, LIQUID 1 QT. N.Y.C. APPRD. D 2 and is in age-related condition, late 1800s – early 1900s. Mold measures 6 ¾ inches long by 4 7/8 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches high with a handle on the top lid and one on the bottom pan for easy separation when baked item is ready to unmold. Both handles are secure. Unlike most of these type molds, the top and bottom pieces of this mold slip apart quite easily while fitting neatly together. Outer color and finish is an aged mottled tin; interior is same with some signs of mild rust, which is hard to avoid with these aged-old molds. Bottom is a smooth gray color.
