If you love color then you might want to start collecting Stick Cut Sponge and Spatter Ware. When grouped together the array of colors will make you feel joyful and happy. This plate might be a nice starter piece. The stick cut sponge design is what I will describe as wheel flowers with green vines. This encircles the outer rim of plate which also has a double red band on rim edge. Inside center has a double red banded bull’s eye. The plate measures 9 ½ inches in diameter and is in age-related condition with rough rim edge. The plate is unmarked but when I acquired a rather large collection of stick spatter and sponge ware each plate was hand written paper labeled. This plate was marked pre 1780 Wm. Adams Tunstall England. Since I cannot say for certain this is so, I will say that the person we acquired the collection from was knowledgeable in early stoneware and porcelains. The plate is very interesting with its very primitive folky design and quite eye catching too. Considering its age, I will say that the all over glaze is still shiny and without utensil marks. I like it. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
