Stunning is the only word I can use to describe this very large Amethyst Tankard/Pitcher. The pitcher measures 13 ½ inches tall; the opening at top (less spout) is 4 ¼ inches in diameter flaring to a 6 3/8 inch diameter base. The glass is ¼ inch thick with a hefty 6 ¼ inch applied handle; this projects outward 2 ¼ inches. The color is an amazing deep Amethyst with many pin sized bubbles throughout; and although the pitcher appears to be straight up, when you run the hand up and down the sides you can feel the soft horizontal ribbing, waves and swales from being hand-blown; there is a rough pontil mark in the bottom. The tankard is clean and in usable dining condition for water or other; I would most definitely fill it with long stemmed flowers when not being used in a utilitarian way. I date this pitcher to c.1920s-1940/50s. It's a beautiful piece. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
