Offered here is a wonderfully weathered hand carved Canadian Goose Decoy. He is quite large measuring 23 ½ inches long from tip of beak to end of tail and 10 inches high to the top of his head. At the bottom the widest span measures 9 ½ inches. He at one time was painted, but that has been weathered off years ago; only remnants of gray, black and white can now be found at breast, face, neck and underside of tail. What I find most attractive is the all over wood grain design that gives the appearance of feathers. Decoy is very smooth from age and being outdoors doing his thing. He’s quite an impressive old bird. He is sectioned at the base of his neck and the beak/face also is sectioned, but is secure. There is a metal loop at front to attach a line. He is unmarked. We found the decoy in New Hampshire and carries traits of possibly being hand crafted in Canada. I like him. If I were to guess I would say he is early 1900’s. He’s a great example of primitive folk. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
