Offered is a fantastic example of Indian craftsmanship. I'm not sure if it's Inuit or some other tribe but someone took a lot of effort to create this lure. Purchased in Alaska and probably dating to the late1800's or early 1900's. It is carved out of whale or walrus bone, shaped like baitfish, with a steel handmade hook attached into the bone and tightly wired on. And then the design of circles & dots with the patina of the bone --- how could a fish resist? I'd be afraid of losing it. It's 4-1/4" long by an inch wide. A great one of a kind lure for your collection. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
