Here is a mid to late 1800s French Red Ware Ear Handled Butter Churn with folky yellow slip flowers in basket design; design appears on both sides. Butter churn is barrel shaped and measures 14 inches tall by 9 inches in diameter at bottom. The butter churn's lid remains intact and in excellent condition. (Wooden dasher/paddle not included.) There are some areas where glaze appears not to have adhered or been worn; except for the fact that it follows the horizontal turning lines, I then would believe it just didn't adhere; aside from this the glaze is in otherwise extremely good condition with mild crazing beneath the glaze. There is a nick on one ear handle. This does not bother me. The piece has seen some years. Churn is unmarked. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
