Quimper Odetta Large Jardiniere 1925 Arts Decoratifs Exposition, or Art Deco Exposition. This style of Quimper Art Pottery was developed and registered in 1922 by Henriot Quimper and displayed in 1925 at the Arts Decoratifs Exposition in Paris.
These Odetta pieces are all spectacularly and artfully done with beautiful autumnal colors and with Geometric designs. This particular piece has a stunning geometric frieze running around the belly and concluding in a portrait of two figures, one male and one female. The design has a very Art Deco Era feel with the design and the rich colors. There are golds, browns, grays and blue all in a delicious matte glaze.
The pot is 9" tall and approximately 9" across at the widest point. The opening at the top of the jardiniere is 5" in diameter and through it the interior color of a yellow-tan is seen. There is no sign of use inside this pot, no water marks, only dust!
The gentle slope of the shoulder comes to an edge at the upper middle which measures approximately 4" wide, then it again slopes in, more sharply than above, and ends in a base or foot that measures 5".
I have pictured the mark that is found on the bottom, HB Quimper Odetta 655 t-, and an incised number which seems to be C55.
The condition is very good with no chips to the rim or foot, no cracking or crazing. There are some areas of missing glaze where it is rough to the touch. I wouldn't call them chips but they are lacking glaze, maybe from rubbing. I have pictured spot of 5 spots, which measures approximate 1/2". These spots of missing glaze are hardly seen when the jardiniere is displayed and could be easily and professionally repaired. Please see my pictures and request more if you need them before you make a decision.
