Parisian Ball Dress...all the fashion in 1829. This is a lithograph fashion plate from Ackermann's Repository which was a British monthly magazine that was in print from 1809 to 1829. There were two fashion plates every month along with a detailed description of the gown and its design. Ackermann's was not just a fashion magazine but also contained articles on the arts, literature, politics, commerce and manufacture. It was an expensive magazine for it day costing approximately $16.00 in today's money.
The fashion plate measures 6 1/4" x 8 3/4" including the gilt frame. The frame is 1/2" wide. The image itself is about an inch plus smaller than the frame and is glass enclosed. It has been colored by hand.
Wear to the gilt frame. In wonderful antique condition!
