Hand Painted Design Created by Professor Fritz Klee of the Royal School of Industrial Porcelain in 1908. This German porcelain jar with lid has a strong Deco design and bear the mark of Lorenz Heutschenreuther who was the son of C.M. Heutschenreuther. Lorenz was in direct competition with his father in the porcelain manufacture for many years.
Professor Klee was a major designer in Germany and his work is highly collected. Not only did he serve as a professor he was the winner of several prestigious Exhibition Awards and designed some prominent German buildings.
His porcelain work features a bright white porcelain base often with geometric floral patterns with a touch of gold. This jar also has a beautiful deep cobalt blue. Professor Klee worked until the Nazi's forced his retirement in 1939.
Wear to the gold around the neck where the lid sits...I love the design on the lid!! No cracks or chips or wear to any other part of the jar or lid. Rust from hairpins in the bottom inside.
