Antique German All Bisque Hertwig & Co. Neglige' Bathing Beauty / Belle circa 1910

This superb, voluptuous antique bisque bathing beauty is manufactured by the German factory of Hertwig & Co. and is illustrated in an old Hertwig & Company catalogue. Hertwig advertised this series of figurines as the Neglige' Ladies as they were all originally clothed in silk teddies.

This fabulous bathing belle is manufactured of smooth, pre-coloured bisque in a realistic skin tone. She is beautifully crafted with expressive face, delicate hands, slim realistically modeled body, and lithe shapely legs which have painted grey stockings and this lady wears moulded black heeled shoes on her dainty feet. Sadly the silk net is now worn and all that remains are the ribbon straps and part of the silk suit.

This wonderful bathing beauty measures approx.3 1/2 inches in height and 5 1/2 inches in length (measured from the tip of her toes to the fingertips of the extended hand. She is offered in good condition. The black heel on one shoe seems shorter than the other and feels a little rough to the touch so may be chipped. These ladies have cold painted facial features which are prone to wear over the years, but this one has good retained colouring with maybe just some loss to the lip colour. This is a high quality, rare antique bathing belle figure that still displays very well and will enhance any good collection. I have priced her accordingly. Thank you for looking.
