Antique German Galluba & Hofmann Bisque Bathing Beauty Belle with Mohair Wig c1910

This voluptuous antique bisque bathing beauty is manufactured by the German factory of Galluba & Hofmann, considered by many collectors to be one of the finest makers. This fabulous bathing belle is marked to the base with numerals which I think read 405. This figurine is illustrated on page 27 of Sharon Weintraub's "Bawdy Bisques & Naughty Novelties" book.

This bisque beauty measures 11 cm inches in length and is 6 cm in height. She is made of slightly oily bisque which givers her a very gentle sheen and this lady is beautifully modelled from her slender arms and shapely legs to her ample curves. The lovely oval face is decorated in typical G&G style with one stroke brows, blue eyes which have large black pupils with white dot highlights and have upper and lower black lid lines as well as a red line for the eyelid crease. The nose has red dot nostrils and the cheeks are rouged. Finally, this lady has coral lips. She has the original mohair wig in a brown colour with centre part and silk net ribbon in the side. On her dainty feet this bathing belle wears white lace up pumps perfectly accentuating her shapely calves and slim ankles.

This fine antique Galluba & Hofmann bathing beauty is offered in very good condition. She has no chips, cracks or crazing and her wig is in generally good condition. These genuine bisque ladies are becoming increasingly hard to find! Thank you for looking.
