This table beauty has frosted circles making wreaths between the deep, vertical cuts in the segmented, glass jar. The jar’s bottom has a large, star burst cut. The metal lid is adorned with oblong, square & round green stones, and it features a raised scroll & flower design with a filigreed handle. Has a nice, old-fashioned look to it.
Date: we think this might be late-19th century to early 20th century
Marked, on underside of lid: in circular insignia, “Empire Art Gold; E. & J.B.” around a centralized crown.
Approximately 5-3/4” tall x 5-1/4” diameter.
Very Good condition: a little wear to glass with a manufacturer’s flaw of a “hair-line” scratch—but, not a crack—in the interior; there’s a nick in one of the vertical cuts; wear to the lid’s interior & exterior gold wash; some "schmutz" (for want of a better word) on the handle; scratches to interior of lid; white patina dust on exterior of lid.
You know I think this is gorgeous as it has to come off of my dresser to sell it!
If interested there is a second one for sale that is it’s pair although it is missing a couple of stones and the handle is slightly shorter than the other one which is why I am selling them separately. Please inquire.
