We think this pup is an English Sheep Dog; but, don't hold us to it. The little rascal highlights a spelter (white metal), cold-painted, double inkwell. The vine & leaf backdrop is designed to hold a couple of pens. The foreground has a well for stamps and such. The dog stands upon a textured ground. The inkwell tops have raised leaves. The base of each inkwell is circled by a long-stemmed daisy, raised above the surface. The wells still have their glass jars! Some red & green accents are still visible.
We think the piece is probably French, made around 1900. The signature might spell out: "N. Vidal." Perhaps you agree?
It's approximately 4-6/8" tall x 8-6/8" long x 5" wide. It bears a heavy weight.
It's in Very Good+ condition, overall. The jars are in excellent condition; but, they still contain some dry ink.
A great gift for the dog enthusiast or writer.
