This sapphire-blue beaded bag is from the around the 1900 time period. This particular style of bag is also known as a reticule, a purse that opens with drawstrings.
It’s a very wide bag, able to carry a lot, yet when it hangs in it’s normal position it doesn’t look big at all. The deep blue beads shimmer in the light, with a looped fringe of the same beads along the top and sides.
It’s in Very Good condition, with no holes or tears. All the beading is intact. Size is 5 inches high by 10-1/2 inches across. It has never had a lining.
What a beauty - it’s strong enough to use today, and would be a wonderful addition to your vintage bag collection.
