= Over the years, I've had several original artworks painted in antique wood bowls. They are usually of early houses, barns, and simple scenic views.
I've never before had one of a mountain stream, with a fly fisherman complete with an early canvas creel across his back. This amazing scene gets better with it's distant mountain vista - you can almost feel the rushing water, smell the pines, and taste that clean mountain air!
This oil painting is very finely executed - this wasn't painted by a slap-dash artist. Instead, the brilliance of this work shows it's tiny details and fine brush strokes.
Haven't found a signature, sadly. This artist deserves to be recognized. I am showing a close-up of the painting so you can see the fabulous details.
The bowl is quite old, as you can see from the photo of the back with good patina . It's size is 10-3/4" by 9-7/8", quite appropriate as the years caused shrinkage in the wood and it is no longer in it's original round.
This painting-on-bowl, for lack of a better description, is in Very Good Condition. It has minor crackling in one small area of the painting, which can only be seen through close inspection. The excellent old wood color and patina on it's unfinished original base add to it's honesty. I believe it's approximately one hundred years old.
This is original folk art at it's finest. The vision of the artist comes through loud and clear - a solitary fisherman, enjoying an afternoon of fishing in a spectacular landscape, all captured within a humble wood bowl.
This work is meant to be cherished as a one-of-a-kind treasure. It speaks boldly - enjoy it for yourself, or give it to someone really special in your life.
