This tiny piano and chair are made of wood with glued construction and stained dark reddish-brown. Made in 1/2" scale, the piano measures a mere 1 3/4" tall, 2 3/4" across the front and 2" deep. The chair is 1 1/2" tall by 1" wide and deep.
Made in Germany in the early part of the 20th Century and very similar to larger pieces that are from the so-called 'Red Line' but we have never seen an example so small. The last picture shows it compared to 1" and 3/4" scales pianos from this line and also a 3/4" scale chair for size comparison and to show the similarities.
Simple flat legs are glued directly to the underside and these show much re-gluing with older type glues but are firmly attached. The keyboard is printed paper and the chair seat is covered in patterned silk.
Retains a partial "Germany" sticker on the underside. Chair is unmarked.
There are minor misalignment of the pieces with small gaps here and there but the assembly is sturdy with no looseness. No breaks or repairs other than the leg re-glues and possibly others that are not as obvious.
