This grouping of miniature porcelain canisters were found together so will stay together even though they do not match each other exactly. Included are a vinegar jug with cork (Essig), a milk cup (Milch), Pepper canister with lid (Pfeffer), a similar caraway seed canister with lid (Kummel) and a coffee canister with lid (Kaffee).
The tallest is the vinegar jug at 2 1/4" and the shortest is the milk cup at 1 1/8" tall and 1" in diameter. The others fall between these in size and exact dimensions will be gladly provided.
This is an early set and the molds were fairly crude with manufacturing irregularities and rather ill-fitting lids on the pepper and caraway. Notice that the coffee container has the bluish cast that is usually associated with Japanese porcelain. The others are pure white embossed porcelain and dark brownish-red stenciled lettering. All are in otherwise nice condition with the exception of the pepper which has damage on both the vessel and the lid.
The coffee canister has an illegible incised mark on the bottom and one has a penciled "AM". No other marks but recognized as German-made even without considering the designations (with the possible exception of the coffee).
Despite the damage and small differences these make a very cute set and would display nicely in a large dollhouse or kitchen room.
