A nice boxed gift set of two bottles of Moulin Rouge Perfume dating to the 1930's or 40's.
The box measures 6 1/2" by 3 1/2" by 1" tall and is covered in black leather, embossed in gold around the edge of the lid and sides. The gold foil sticker reads: "Moulin Rouge de Paris Parfum, Veda Dist. NY" . The lid is attached with a spring hinge and opens to reveal the fitted lining covered in ecru colored satin.
The 2 small bottles of perfume do not have a volume noted on the foil labels but measure 2" by 1" by 1 3/4" tall. Each contains a different scent; one is marked 'MS', the other 'C'. The 'MS' is quite heavy while the 'C' is a lighter scent and, evidently the previous owner preferred it as the bottle contains less. It is also possible that this has evaporated more quickly as the packaging shows little sign of usage.
The box is in very nice condition with light foxing and several small spots on the bottom front where the leather has worn and also some light cracking on the back side. The interior is immaculate with no tears or staining. The gold plastic lids on the perfumes show some color loss. The foil labels are in very nice condition.
