This demure little porcelain hat pin holder measures 4 3/4" tall. The 2 1/4" square base tapers to a 1 1/4" square at the top.

The bottom inch or so is painted in a pale pink semi-matte glaze and this is trimmed with a ring of white posies and green foliage. The remainder is high-gloss white glaze topped with shiny gold over the nine pin holes.

In excellent condition with no damage. There are no manufacturer's marks which may indicate that this was made prior to the McKinley Tariff act of 1891 which required imports to be marked with country of origin. Probably German or Austrian blanks and painted by a talented hobbyist.

Shown in the last picture with a matching dresser tray that is being sold separately as these are the only two pieces left of what was probably a much larger vanity set. Price discounts for the purchase of both pieces.
