A set of 12 beautiful salt dishes made of the finest European hard paste porcelain. A light pink wash starts on the underside and fades to white around the top where 2 pink roses (one on each 'side') are connected with a bower of green foliage. The interiors are glazed in delicate pink lustre and topped with a line of gold around the top edge. Each sits on 3 feet painted in Roman gold. All this was done by hand and, perhaps, by a talented hobbyist.
Measure 1 3/4" in diameter and 1" tall.
Made by one of the many Austrian (German) porcelain manufacturers and each is marked with a green crown and; "Austria, Princess Louise". We have seen this mark on other porcelain with dissimilar patterns so assume that 'Princess Louise' is probably the name of the line of the blank porcelain. The mark dates the pieces to the period between 1891 and 1920.
All are in excellent condition. The last picture shows a tiny flake on the rim of one which is more a glaze miss than damage to the porcelain and a small black firing dot on the interior of another. No other chips, flakes or damage of any sort.
