This charming dollhouse living room set was made in Germany in the early part of the 20th Century. Made of wood with glued construction and a medium golden brown stain with no varnish or other sealer. Black and rose chintz cotton covers on the settee and chairs.
Made in small 1" or large 3/4" scale, the settee measures 3" tall (1 3/4" to seat), 5 1/2" wide and 1 3/4" deep. The arm chair is 2 1/2" tall, 3 1/4" wide and 2 1/4" deep. The other chair is 2 1/4" wide and the same height and depth dimensions as the sofa. The table top is a 4" by 2 1/2" rectangle and 2" tall and the clock is 4 3/4" tall.
All 5 pieces are in excellent condition with no damage or signs of play wear. There is very light spotting on the table top and probably once a tin disk connected to the pendulum on the clock.
Stamped; "Made in Germany" inside a rectangle on the underside of all but one chair.
The scales of antique dollhouse furniture can be confusing, even to experienced collectors. It was made for children who probably weren't as concerned with sizes as are the adult collectors of today. Please check the dimensions to make sure that our things will fit into your setting. We would be more than happy to provide more measurements and also send photos with other furniture for size comparison.
