This nice old album measures 13" wide, 6" deep at the base and 10" tall. Made of thick cardboard and upholstered in blue cut velvet with ornate metal corner pieces and hardware.
The latch opens to reveal 16 double-sided cardboard and paper frames. Two photos remain. A slant is formed when all leaves are opened and the last has corner mounts holding a piece of blue blotter paper. Thin gilded metal pieces are attached to the interior; one to hold papers, the other a bracket to contain the glass inkwell. The lid is attached to the bracket and hinges up for removal of the glass. The wire handle telescopes up for carrying. Back and bottom are covered with black leathered paper.
In nice structural condition with no breaks or tears but substantial wear to the velvet covering, especially around the top where it would have been handled the most. Some slight foxing and several tears to the papers that form the picture frames. The gilded brackets and inkwell assembly are quite nice with no sign of wear or usage. No damage to the square glass inkwell.
