This lovely little dresser box measures 2 1/4" in diameter by 1" tall. Made of the finest hard paste porcelain from the Limoges region of France. The lid and base are trimmed with a beaded brass strip which conforms to the lobed shape. The hinge and fancy clasp are also made of brass and both function nicely.
The body is glazed in lovely magenta with a shiny gold transfer overlay. The portrait is also a transfer design, embellished on the bodice and head band with hand painting.
There is a tight hairline to the left of the portrait; barely visible on the front and more obvious on the inside of the lid. It extends from the edge toward the center but does not divide the top piece of porcelain. This is the only flaw besides some slight dark oxidation on the brass. The hinge and closure are nice.
Unglazed bottom has 2 Limoges marks and "TLF" hand written, perhaps a previous owner but more likely the artist's initials.
We hope our low price compensates for the damage to this lovely older box.
