Offering for sale a lovely original watercolor Miniature painting. This one is a farm scene, with barn in background, luscious trees and two cows enjoying a drink and dip in the farm pond. It is signed on the bottom left, we think Emma Johnson. This is an old painting, it is under glass in what we think is the original frame with the framers label on the back, :Wright's Art Shop in Nashville Tennessee. The framers label is very old, with the old style black paper on the back and the even older style of placing watercolors on the front of another paper and matting with matching paper. We do not remember this art shop at all, and our guess is that this was framed before the 1950's. We do not know if the artist was a Nashvillian. We acquired this with two others with similar signature and identical framing from the same owner; unfortunately we acquired these from an antique shop so we do not have the option of asking the former owner the history of the paintings. An internet search also turned up little, we found one artist by the same name who taught classes possibly in Pennsylvania, but we think she was too young to be the same artist. What we do know from our own experience in trying to paint with watercolor, is this artist has a lovely technique, a very nice gentle touch with the washes in the sky, etc, and fine detail in the trees and the cows. In other words, she was good ! The painting is framed under glass, in a frame that is gold with some wear on the color, the black paper lining the back is of course coming loose with age; we are sure the new owner will want to re-frame this with a nicer mat, etc; but we wanted to keep it in the original framing for historical reasons. The overall framed size is 10 & 3/4" by 8 & 7/8"; and the painting itself is 5 & 15/16" by 3 & 7/8".
