Antique Tibetan bag or purse, a chuckmuck, in Tibetan called a Mechag, unisex accessory from Tibet 19th Century , leather with silver or silver tone metal trim, original strap, accented with assumed turquoise and coral stones, a few missing on the strap, silver studs all over the back and elsewhere, these were often removed from purses and traded or bartered in that era. This would have been hung on a belt to carry herbs, a relic, etc, any small treasure important to the owner. Inside this purse is crumbled up paper, old, with Tibetan writing and inside a lump of something and powder, I am assuming it is some type of herbal, as Tibetans were really into that. The purse itself, the leather part, measures 5" wide, 3 and 1/8" tall and 1.5 " thick. The total length from top of strap to end of the lower dangles is 14". The leather is stiff from age, purse is not easy to open, this is definitely something for a museum or collector and not to be used. If the buyer chooses to remove the paper and contents do so with care, but for historical purposes I recommend leaving it in there. We acquired this over 25 years ago from a collector, we personally collect items from Tibet and India, but decided to part with this one. We have seen lesser quality ones for more money than our price. This will ship with full insurance and tracking. Overseas customer please email us and we will consider as this item is marked for USA shipping only at this time.
