Lovely antique Book of Common Prayer from His Majesty's Printers, Eyre & Spottiswoode (Bible Warehouse) Ltd, Edinburgh & New York, includes the Psalter or Psalms of David, heavy grained black genuine leather with original carrying straps and a tiny pocket on the exterior assumed to hold a cross or crucifix, shiny gilt page edges, gold gilt title on spine, beautiful marbled end papers and cover linings, and inside the back old label from the store where purchased in Beckenham. Tiny pocket with flap is in very good condition. On the other side there is a larger pocket for putting prayers, etc, it has a tear from the book, see photo six. I can be glued back. Otherwise this is in really good condition. It measures 4 & 7/8" tall, 3 & 1/4" wide and is 3/4" thick and in amazing condition for the age. We do know this is antique, and assume the printing date is at least close to the earliest date in the Table of Moveable Feasts, which is 1883, which looks appropriate for the book as to style and quality. Very little wear, no names inside, clean, no aromas, straps intact, just beautiful.Over 500 pages.
