Lovely vintage large Icon of the Virgin Mary and Infant Jesus. The images are printed with hand glazing over them, and topped with a very detailed, ornate and high relief silver metal oklad; complete with fine enamel work on the halo and corner areas. We do not know the origin of this Icon, as we acquired it from an estate where the owner knew nothing about its origin. The metal oklad and the Icon are mounted on some type of board, with the back covered in a red fabric. It measures 12 & 1/8" by 14 & ½" and is in good condition. We think the silver metal can be more shiny, we polished a little on a few areas but decided to leave it in the original condition as we found it. Please note this is not painted, but print, and not antique, but definitely vintage and not new.
